Are you taking steps to reduce your speeding?

On Behalf of | Jul 3, 2019 | Traffic Offenses

Perhaps you are already well-aware of the fact that you speed a bit more than other drivers in Virginia. You may have already received a ticket or two for your lead foot, but are you doing anything to keep from receiving another speeding ticket?

With help from Park Insurance, you may be able to curb your impulse to zip through traffic. Learn how to keep from seeing flashing lights in your rearview mirror.

Keep temptation at arm’s length

You should drive at the same speed as the flow of traffic, right? Within reason. If everyone flowing past you is going well above the posted speed limit, stay in the right lane and let them pass you. While you may all speed together, you do not want to be the one singled out by law enforcement and receive a ticket.

Learn the speed limit

What you think the speed limit should be and what it actually is could be two different things. Even if you have driven through an area multiple times and know for a fact what the speed limit is, it may have changed in the last few months. Keep your eyes peeled for the current posted speed limit, and follow it.

It is okay for others to pass you

Just because several other cars pass you does not mean anything. Those drivers could be speeding into the arms of a ticket, giving you a front row seat to their misdeed. Rather than try to catch up with the cool kids, move over to the right lane to let them safely pass you.
